Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
