Iran States It May Rejoin US Nuclear Discussions if Approached with 'Dignity' and 'Honor'

Iran is prepared to restart atomic talks with the United States as long as it is approached with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said exclusively dialogue worked, and disclosed new appeals had originated from intermediaries to reopen talks with the American leadership. He claimed Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran was not yet able to permit the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Walking a Complex Route

Araghchi is navigating a complex route since Iran wishes not to be perceived to be operating from a situation of disadvantage, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and psychologically from the joint assault on its enrichment centers in June.

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an absolute privilege to enrich uranium domestically that it will perpetually retain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the prior discussions.

Earlier Talks Suddenly Concluded

The prior phases of negotiations between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter end on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, struck Tehran's atomic facilities in a two-week conflict that concluded with the American leader asserting the sites had been destroyed. Following this, European countries employed their privilege to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a significant effect.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in prior discussions, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with US participation could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been decided in the talks that US nuclear scientists could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a logical implication of the cooperative offer. Officials stated three times they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat the US official only for the agreement to collapse due to "detractors in America".

Present Position

Iranian officials stated the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the suggestion could be reintroduced in some form if discussions restart.

The American leader recently claimed he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but privately Iran's diplomats say they are not yet getting consistent overtures from America either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, the Egyptian leadership, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The Iran's state department has been charged of non-responsiveness in the face of the US president's straightforward manner, but Iran states negotiations is not part of a spectacle.

Diplomatic Standpoint

In his speech to the forum, designed to paint the US as a controlling nation that misuses the notion of international law, the foreign minister declared the two-week conflict showed the conflict could not be ended by combat operations. He said the strikes started with a American requirement for an complete Tehran capitulation and culminated with an complete request for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is convinced the initial Israeli attacks were executed with total Washington understanding and coordination, making confidence hard to reestablish.

Negotiations Stays the Primary Resolution

Araghchi stated: "It was not Iran that had deserted dialogue; it was the United States and the western countries that had consistently sought to dictate their will during the talks. Negotiations can still be active and stays the ultimate solution to address conflicts, but its standards, regulations and principles must be followed."

"Provided that they address to the Iranian people with the approach of respect and honor, they will receive a answer in the equivalent tone."

Restoration and Rebuilding

In what is characterized by Iran's diplomats as the struggle of restoration and rebuilding, the foreign minister said he was certain Iran's defence capabilities "are considerably enhanced than before 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We acquired many lessons from this war; we have discovered our personal limitations and the shortcomings of the opponent."

He added: "We successfully passed this war. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to destroy, continues to exist. The facilities and gear, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the resolve of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but did not succeed to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have developed more resilient, more cohesive, and more endorsing of the government and the state in the face of this invasion."
